What are dragons in Dragon Shelter?

Dragons are the companions at the center of the whole game: per the official description, each one has unique traits and special abilities, can sense what people need, and uses its magic where it is needed. You care for them with love and playtime until they become loyal friends who help out on the farm and around town.

Which dragon abilities are confirmed?

Four, all backed by official screenshots:

• Watering crops. A teal water dragon sprays water over planted beds — irrigation carried on while you do something else.
• Lighting the oven. A red fire dragon breathes on the kitchen oven to get it burning for cooking.
• Clearing overgrown land. The same fire dragon burns away wild grass and weeds, with the water dragon following to soak the ground — a two-dragon land-clearing routine.
• Helping in the kitchen. Screenshots show both a red and a teal dragon in chef hats, one of them stirring a large pot while you work the stations beside it.

The Steam achievement list echoes the elemental theme: “Tame the Flame” and “A Splash of Friendship” both hint that fire and water dragons are woven into progression.

How do you care for a dragon?

Care is an explicit mechanic: press F to start a Care interaction, and give dragons playtime on equipment such as the trampoline visible in official screenshots. Bonding shows up in small moments too — one official screenshot captures a dragon trading hearts with a hedgehog in its pen. The official wording frames them as companions rather than livestock: cared for “with love and playtime” until they turn loyal.

Where do dragons live and wander?

Practically everywhere you do. Screenshots show dragons curled up asleep in your own house at night, trotting after you through town in broad daylight, splashing in a dedicated pond swim spot complete with deck chairs and swim rings, and staying in a stone-fence pen you can build on the farm. A blue-roofed shed near the fields rounds out the housing picture.

What do we still not know about dragons?

Quite a lot, honestly: the full species list, individual dragon names, how you first befriend or hatch a dragon, and whether any of the wild dragons seen in the forest can join you. None of that has been published in official materials, and we would rather leave it blank than repeat forum guesses. This page gets updated as players map the system.
